Why Superior Physical Medicine when in an auto accident?

Get treatment as soon as possible. Many people have suffered concussions or other severe injuries as a result of their auto accident and don’t know it because their bodies are in shock. Especially to their head, neck and spine. Many emergency rooms evaluate you for life threatening trauma and release you. WE ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY RECOMMEND you see a car accident specialist imediately. Like Dr. Kevin Shaevitz.

Auto accidents are classified as either low velocity ( below 10 mph) or high velocity ( above 10 mph). In low velocity accidents, the injuries usually result from the rapid movement of the body during the crash. Common low velocity injuries include whiplash and muscle sprains and strains. The onset of symptoms can be immediate or delayed for up to several days.

More serious injuries often happen in high velocity collisions especially if you are hit from behind in a rear end collision. The person who is hit usually has more injuries due to the physics of these type of accidents. Additionally, These accidents can often have more injuries due to the fact that the occupant often times strikes other objects in the car such as airbags, dashboard, or even the windshield.
Even though your car may have received little damage, occupants can suffer serious spinal injury. injuries to the neck caused by the sudden movement of the head backwards, forwards, or sideways is referred to as whiplash. When the head is suddenly jerked back and forth beyond its normal limits, the muscles and ligaments  supporting the spine and head can be overstretched or torn. The discs between spinal bones can tear, herniate or rupture. Vertebrae can be forced out of their normal position, reducing range of motion. The spinal cord and nerve roots can get stretched and irritated. There can be considerable “soft tissue damage” to the patient with only minimal damage to the car. Crash dynamics and  physics prove this fact.
